Quality photos are necessary:
We want your beloved critter to showcase themselves well, so here are some TIPS:
- Use a camera with 4.0 mega pixels or higher (no scanned or cell phone pictures).
- Images that are at least 500 pixels wide work best (the higher the better).
- Showcase the animal’s personality (playing, sleeping, expressions).
- Use an un-cluttered, solid-color background with very little texture or patterns.
- Don’t include people or parts of people in the photo.
- Lighting: for best results, use natural daylight without a flash. No red eyes.
- Most appealing: close-up, at eye level, with the animal looking at the camera.
- Sorry, no blurry photos.
- When in doubt, TAKE MORE PHOTOS! The more quality photos we have to choose from, the better your chances are at being featured.
Please include:
- The photographer’s name or a web link for attribution purposes
- Animal’s name (if applicable)
- The photo(s) or a web address for your photo
- Suggested caption or cute factoid about the animal (optional)
